Commonly Asked Questions
-
There are 3 different permits needed for Aerial Filming, namely:
Operators Permit - This is a permit issued by CAAS (Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore) to certified companies who are allowed to do aerial filming as UAV operators. Moving Shutter is fully certified and was issued an Operators permit by CAAS.
Activity Permit - This permit is issued by CAAS for specific commercial drone projects. This permit contains crucial information such as location of shoot, height restrictions and flight window. Moving Shutter will apply for this permit when the aerial project is confirmed.
Location Permit - This is a permit based on case-by-case scenario. It would only be required if the location of the shoot has a need. I.E Filming in a park would require NParks to approve of the shoot.
-
There are wide array of factors when applying and getting approval of the permits. These factors include and not restricted to, the time of the shoot, location of the shoot, flight path of drone and external factors (air show, fly-bys, events)
With our vast experience working on Aerial Filming, we would advise you accordingly based on your project and ensure that permits will be of no issue. -
Your satisfaction is paramount to us. Before we take on the project, we would discuss the possible liability that comes with it. Unfortunately, permit might still not be approved due to unforeseen circumstances. Moving Shutter would have to charge $200 so as to cover the cost of the application fees. This would be charged irregardless of CAAS’s approval.
-
Weather is out of our control, but you do not have to worry as Moving Shutter will apply for 3 days UAV activity permit.
This allows us to overcome the unfortunate weather circumstance and also allows us to refine any discussions that we had. -
Indoor flying will be allowed on special occasion. There are approvals which are required in this case. For example, if you want to fly in a shopping mall, approval is required from the owner/management of the site. If the building belongs to you, then indoor flying will definitely be allowed.
-
There are a variety of factors to consider when doing Aerial Filming. For example, there should be no flying over public walking spaces. This can be overcome, through careful and specific flight planning to prevent endangerments to the general public.
-
Flying within the vicinity of an airport is still possible, however, there are certain implications to this. When flying near an airport, height restrictions must be observed and
tethered drone may or may not be required. -
Moving Shutter would provide at least 2 crew members for the shoot. On the shoot itself, if you have a storyboard in mind, we would shoot accordingly based on your storyboard. We would also recommend you professionally regarding angle of shoots and the framing of shots. If a storyboard is required, we would also advise you based on what you would like to capture from the aerial filming.
